This is basically just a place to rave about Harry Potter. I love the books and the movies. I have all the books, all the related books, all the movies so far, and I'm getting the soundtracks and audio versions of the books.
I use to be a really big fan. I use to have all seven books on my brailleNote, plus Quidditch Through The Ages, and Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find them. I got six books in print. I had three of the five sound tracks, all five movies, and GOF and POA on audio. Yeah, I know obsessive. Oh, I forgot and countless fics on my brailleNote too.
If anyone wants any funny HP things just ask, I know some of them.
go on i want to know. I love the series and my fav character is Serious,. Damn it he dies. but that's usually my luck.
My favorite character is either Dumbledore or Lupin.

I have the 7 books on CD read by Jim Dale and the 7 books on my computer read by Fry. Also on my computer I have the audio recordings of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Quidditch through the Ages, The Tales of Beedle the Bard, and The Magical World of Harry Potter. I have Braille copies of all of the books. I have the collectors edition of The Tales of Beedle the Bard. I have the first five movies on DVD and also audio described and I have the soundtracks too. I have a lot of fics listed on my favorites on ff.net my username is Maria2884. I have several Harry Potter shirts I got from the WB shop online. I have a Harry Potter UNO card game, Harry's owl Hedwig plush, and umm I think I still have my talking Hermione Granger doll. LOL
Wow, that's a big collection
I've got the first five books in braille, all 5 DVD's, described movies on my computer, and the six books on tape. I had the seventh one, but it was from a friend of mine and he let me rip it to my laptop, so I gotta get an actual copy of it, as I deleted it once I was done with it.
I have all seven books from bookshare because it's the only afortable way to get them plus the audio described movies.
i love voldimort!. if i met him in real life, think we'd get on sooo good!
fave book has to be the chamber of secrets, the idea of petrifying people is just sooo tempting!
the only thing i don't like about chamber of secrets, is that colin guy.... soooo anoying!
Yeah, my favorite character is Albus Dumbledore. God, I hate fans that mess with him too much. I hate total control freak Dumbledore, Ha, that’s funny.
My favorite book is POA. I like Remy and Sirius!
Seventh book, too much death though. Tonks shouldn't have died, neither should Remus, but ah well. Don't know what my favorite book would be, probably the first one, because that's how it all got started.
Yeah I know and Fred shouldn't have died either.
Yeah, I would love to have seen teddy being raised by his mother and father. Remus would make a good father and Tonks a good mother.
I'd love to see the first meeting between Harry and teddy in the final movie. The book was just way too abrupt of an ending between the last chapter and the epilogue.
Yeah, I wish the epilogue would have been longer.
I use to have all the books on audio, but couldn't take them when I came to college. not enough storrage space.
Couldn't get into Quiditch through the ages or fantastic beasts.
I haven't read tales of beetle yet, but I really want to.. *wink wink nudge nudge*
I hated book 7 eppilogue. Way too cliche' but I liked teddy and the personalities of the kids, hated their naming though. Again, cliche'.
And I think all the death in book 7 made the series more real. It's not a fairy tale where everyone is ok. Sometimes the best people die. That made book 7 worth it for me.
I know, agreed. I have the fifth book in braille, and the rest on tape, but have the seventh one on cd, and have all the movies. Long live Harry Potter!
I was never a huge fan of the movies, as they seemed to leave out a great deal of important parts of the story line. However, i do have over 100 mb of fanfics saved to my computer (I used to have a 1.93 gb collection but then lost it,) and have both audio versions of all seven books as well as the etext copies. I used to have braille of a few of them, but I was only borrowing them from the library, unfortunately. I actually have cd rips of the audio versions. I believe I have all of the movies in audio described format, and i'm working on getting the soundtracks for them, because I like the music they use in those movies.
As a sidenote... there's a talking Hermione doll? Now I've really heard it all. I have to wonder exactly what it says, lol.
Umm... it said stuff like "Briliant" "You solved it!" "So clever!" "You've done a good job." Don't remember what else. LOL
oo I want a draco dall. haha
I want a Snape doll so he can call Hermione an insufferable know it all LOL.
You know how they have the dalls out that talk to each other now? Not necisarily harry potter ones, but they have the baby dalls that talk to each other and the ferbies... it's like the harry potter ferbies. they can talk to each other. lol
Oh wow! I have seen HP dolls out there, but not talking ones!
I have all the movies in audio discribed, and all 7 books on tape, but yeah, i understand what you mean about not being able to take them with you, they are quite roomy as far as storage. But Yeah! I like to read the books over and over again, only haven't really read it in a while. I've only read the 7th book twice, and I think it was worth it! But my favorite has to be the third book too! Mmmm!
you know I have read all of them I have most of them and I am trying to get the ones that I dont have I have all of the movies so far and I went to see the sixth one and it is my least favorite of them so far I am one of those people that understand that some things have to be changed alittle and things left out and up until dumbledore honestly harry wouldn't have just stood there no matter the order from him it just wasn't right I will get it when it comes out on dvd but I wont like it I hope the next 2 are better although I dont know how they are going to devide the last book into 2 movies I just cant see how that will be good at all I liked the first director best I think he had a better picture of how it was suposed to look
I don't really like the actor they got for Dumbledore after Richard Harris died. And I don't like how they all but eliminated the ubiquitous chat between Harry and Dumbledore near the end of each book. I did like the actor they picked to play Voldemort though.
The end of the seventh book left way to many questions and I think it should have been different, too abrupt as she wanted to finish in a hurry and get it over with. I also thought the seventh book dragged a bit and some people in there shoudn't have died, like Fred. I do like the movies as they tend to follow the books quite well and have the scripts approved by the author. Just so people know, the movie for the seventh book will actually be two movies instead of one.
That's pretty well known. The question is how they're going to do that.
ah yes the wonderfully magical story of Harry Pootter, I still hsve yet to put it all together. My mind has been to preocupied lately. Im a little confised with the last book.
I love harry potter. I have all seven of the books a t-shirt and i saw all of the movies. I went to see the sixth one it was awesome. My favorite character is Harry altogether.
I'm rereading the books at the moment. I'm on the fourth one.
LOL, same here. My husband and I just started it. :) I'm not sure how many times we've read them, but we love them.
I've lost count of the number of times I've read the books as well. So any woman I marry had better be...well if not a fan than at least willing to accept the fact that I love them. My very first girlfriend definitely didn't fall into that category. She told me I was going to hell every time I so much as mentioned the books.
I think that's going a bit extreme...On her part. We love them. Now mind you, when they first came out neither of us wanted anything to do with them, but that was simply because of how much we kept hearing about them. Sometimes you can hear enough about a particular topic to put you off it all together, but now that we've tried them, we love them. :)
It was the same for me. I got so sick of people telling me i just HAD to read Harry Potter. I was sick of the whole phenomenon and refused to have anything to do with the series for the longest time. Then this past February, I was bored with all the usual crap I read and needed something different to read. My curiosity got the best of me and I downloaded the first Harry Potter book from NLS. I read it in a day and was hooked. I ended up going through the series in about 10 days and couldn't tear myself away from it. I've read the series 2 more times since then and love it more every time. Of course I had to try out all the movies too. I am officially hooked. I got my mom hooked on it too. My dad thinks we're both idiots. I don't care. It's a great series.
How do you get registered for NLS online? LOL, I use to be registered, but lost the number and all that stuff...Didn't know about the online aspect of it. :)
You can sign up through your local library for the blind or go here:
NLS BARD Application Instructions
If you previously had an online account your library can probably help you retrieve your login information. Or, there's a password retrieval system on the log in page here:

Now I want to go back and read all the books again, lol. My favorite book was the 6th one, I really enjoyed reading all the background information on Voldemort.
I'm really not a fan of the movies, because they leave out too much important information. I know they have to cut some things, but damn, whoever decided what to cut did a crappy job. The first and second movies were pretty good though, I have to admit. After that they really went downhill.
I also agree with what others have said about the epilogue being too short, not to mention forced. It just seems too convenient, too expected. For sure after everything Harry went through, he deserved to have a good and happy life, but honestly that ending sucked. In general though, that book was great, but I was left disappointed after finishing it and with a lot of questions, and I honestly shudder to think of how Hollywood is gonna murder that ending when the seventh movie comes out.
Not to mention that I found the duel with Voldemort to be more than a little anticlimactic. Technically Harry didn't kill Voldemort. Voldemort killed himself.
yeah the seventh book left me with questions as well. the movie is in two parts, right? I wonder how all of that's going to work out. hopefully it won't be as bad as the other movies.
the first two really followed the story. but when it came to the third, eh, was ok. but the fourth? forget it!
I've actually really liked the movies for the most part. Granted I really don't like the guy they got to play Dumbledore after Richard Harris passed away, but I did rather like Gary Oldman as Sirius and Ralph Fiennes gave me chills as Voldemort. He may not have as high a voice as the books suggest for VOldemort but he's definitely got a cold, sinister aura about him that even Jim Dale, with his superb narrations, couldn't quite capture.
I like all the books and the first 2 films. I wasn't too keen on the 3rd and 4th films though, because they kind of messed up the story line with the change of directors. I think one of my cousins still has her pretend spell book and wands and stuff which is pretty cool.
I like the movies pretty well. True, the books are better, but the movies are entertaining. I just have to make myself forget about the books and enjoy the movies for what they are. I'm not crazy about the second Dumbledore either but I could watch Alan Rickman all day long. He's perfect as Snape.
My favorite is probably Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort.
